You can tell what they play and how many times in stats so a WW fan would be obvious. In this way KV is less of a pure heavy tank and more like an oversized medium thanks to its betterthanaverage power ratio traverses and terrain resistances for a Soviet heavy. In these two modes the battle rating system works the same however as the player is only using one aircraft or ground unit the battle rating system will not take in to account the other aircraft in their lineup and they will only fight enemies with aircraft or ground units within the battle rating range of the one they have selected. What gives these players the advantage lets hope its not cheat mode Are they so much more skillful Maybe that comes into play to a degree. On the other hand experienced medium tank players can use its often surprising mobility to react to opportunities and take advantage of distracted opponents at close range. The same is true for. They know places to sit to shoot through windows so you never see them. Even knowing which bits to shoot at you shouldnt engage a KV alone at anything less than tier V and even then most of the time. It makes people quit or take long breaks.

Preferential matchmaking (tier 9 max, no tier 10 battles). Cons: Relatively low ammunition capacity; Poor penetration and shell speed on both AP.
The IS-6 is a Soviet tier 8 premium heavy tank. Plans for this vehicle were drawn up in the construction bureau of the Chelyabinsk Kirov plant from December to the summer of Further development and the construction of the first prototype took place at the Uralmash plant. However, the vehicle had no advantages over the other heavy tank designs under consideration, and its armor was seen as inferior to the IS-4 Object , so the IS-6 was not selected for production. It is also currently available from the gift shop as a bundle with a garage slot all year-round.
It is the 2nd defender cheapest of the Tier 8 premium heavy tanks. It has good armour and decent mobility, but an inaccurate gun with fairly low penetration. Once one of the most common premium tanks in the game, the IS-6 has suffered heavily from powercreep as well as the new matchmaking. Even its main advantage, the preferential match making, has been largely nullified by the fact that it will see mostly tier 9 matches, for which it is poorly suited due to its low penetration. In many ways, the IS-6 is essentially an IS that has been moved up to Tier 8, but still meets the same opponents.
The mm D is for all intents and purposes the natural evolution of the IS’s top gun, the mm DT and in fact, the D was historically a modified version of the DT. It has marginally improved penetration mm , marginally improved accuracy 0. Using the gun at ranges above m requires a lot of patience in allowing the gun to fully aim in, and even then the gun can and will miss. It works best at medium to close ranges.
When you have played a number of battles, you will start to move up through the different tech trees of various nations. At tier V you will unlock your first heavy tanks, even if there are some at tier IV also. And even one at tier III.
It used to have the IS-7 gun and would face off against Tier 5 tanks thanks to its matchmaking. This was at a time when there were only USA.
This KV-1 introduces a new armament, the ZiS-5, that has a much stronger punch than the L from its predecessor while retaining the same armour. This tank is very similar to its predecessors, but mounts the same gun of the T sharing its ability to fire APCR shells. The player should feel at home once going through the KV-1 L , and while not as fast as the KV-1S , it maintains more armour all-around. The gun may be lacking on penetration unless using APCR shells, its velocity is poor makes it harder to aim in Realistic Battles , but will do plenty of damage once penetrated and reloads quite quickly.
The armour is outstanding when angled. With extra 25mm spaced armour at the front of the hull results in a total of over mm of armour. The tank can take a lot of damage from lower ranks and still survive the battle. The turret remains vulnerable, however, but the turret ring is reinforced, which means that it’s harder to jam the turret. The KV-1 ZiS-5 armour is still relatively strong at the hull, taking the base armour of the original KV-1 L with extra armour added on. While the mobility is subpar and firepower is the same compared to the more ubiquitous Soviet T medium tank, they can still be a threat if ignored.
If facing an un-angled KV-1 face-on, the front hull plate is still a popular place to attack on with a high-velocity anti-tank weapon. The side hull is also an enticing place to hit as not only is it a flat 75 mm armour, the mass of fuel and ammunition are behind there. However, an angled KV-1 ZiS-5 is rather tough for any tank gun, with the tendency to bounce rising. However, the turret armour is still a vulnerable place to hit no matter which way the hull is angled with.

Now, much less. Hereunder, you will find both my own personal guide and a “guide to the guides”. All I hope is they help beginners and other medium level players, allowing them not to spend hundreds of battles before understanding what it takes to play better and to have fun with World of Tanks. World of Tanks is a massively multiplayer online game developed by Belarussian company Wargaming now based in Cyprus , featuring midth century s—s era tanks and self-propelled artillery.
In the above extract from a screen copy of the results of a victorious battle, the left column shows the actual credits results, and the right column shows what the credits results woud have been if the Russian player had a premium account.
Jump to content. Does the KV-1 have stranger than normal matchmaking? In one instance it was completely Tier VII and me on my side. Also even when I do penetrate with this tank I often do no damage vs these higher tier tanks. Very, very strange. Strangest still my WR is Low penetration, low kills etc. Yet I’ve actually been quite successful at side scrapping, holding up a flank area etc. But in the end it comes down to “if you can damage and take out the opposition” vs just holding them back.
Is-5, kv-1s with tier 7 soviet premium vehicles – posted in Kv -1s matchmaking, top mobility, , same gun from 3. Weak spot guide for a battle tiers from 3.
Jump to content. The CKV1 might be a bit faster and have slightly better armor, the Churchill has a lower profile and can more easily absorb incoming shots with its tracks. The Churchill also has a bigger healthpool. This isn’t a moaning post, I’m just trying to understand the logic. Aside from decent penetration on premium rounds, the CKV1 feels a bit useless in Tier 7 games. CKV1 also is as blind as a bat. Patience of a 6 year old on energy drink and a chocolate overdose, can’t sit still waiting for the enemy to slowly advance.
Move up! Be aggressive! Also, Arty and Lights should never be top Tier. The KV-1 is a better tank overal and able to compete with better tanks. Church 3 is very strong when played correctly but is incredibly slow, has awful turning speed and very vulnerable flanks. Church 3 already can’t really deal with t6 bullies let alone 7s like the O-I and KV since its large hp pool is negated by massive guns while the KV-1 can due to superior armour.

The index at the bottom of each picture describes a few abbreviations used and also the format in which the armor details are described in. Effective Armor EA refers to the overall effectiveness of the armor without normalization. The armor values are presented in three different scenarios for the angled view of the tank. A KV-1 from the side is extremely vulnerable due to the lack of angles on the side of the tank. The main strong points are the turret since it is thicker than the hull and also the areas where the tracks overlay the hull armor.
Just fire away at the side hull armor and be careful of not hitting the purple track sections since there is no hull behind those areas. Aim towards the rear of the KV-1 to set it on fire fairly often shots will do it. An angled KV-1 can prove to be a difficult opponent for many tanks the KV-1 normally faces.
Use the side and frontal sections for turret armor information and for the hull all of the effective armor and armor values against AP are listed in the picture. The best locations to aim are the frontal weak spots unless the KV-1 angles a lot which opens up the upper side hull armor. Very useful guide, for someone who is relatively new to WOT this is extremely helpful.
